However, alot of shops use a lathe and that will make a flat flywheel. If you don't have any heat checks, just clean and reuse. Also if a flywheel is resurfaced alot, it can throw a hydraulic clutch out of adjustment.

I like to take the flywheel and run it over the wire brush wheel on my grinder. Gets the whole outer flywheel surface shiney clean. This may be overkill, but it won't hurt anything.
